CoHear/BCS’s Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program (IOTP) is designed specifically for you and represents a significant next step in your treatment. This program offers a level of intensity beyond weekly individual or group therapy. The content of your IOTP is constructed together with you based upon where you are in your recovery process. The IOTP is initially a 5-week commitment, with a possibility of extension if needed. Clients will spend 15-20 hours a week on-site, with additional time off-site, to fulfill the program requirements.

For some, this is the next step of treatment after an inpatient stay. For others, this is recommended when outpatient services are not sufficient for the client’s current treatment needs. The program will address the emotional, relational, physical, and spiritual needs of the client. Typically, this includes the incorporation of a variety of specific treatment approaches. This may include EMDR and Life Span Integration to address previous traumas experienced by the client. As part of the 12 Step process, clients participate in drafting a thorough Amends Process designed to address the impact of their behavior upon their partner and other significant personal relationships. Some clients benefit from an emphasis upon developing more effective social skills, along with building a strong social support system. Others can benefit from an exploration of vocational choices if part of their healthy recovery may require a change in employment. While participating in the IOTP, it is also important for each client to be involved in community service that significantly reinforces their 12 Step recovery.

The client’s specifically designed IOTP includes a combination of individual, partner and family, and group treatment. In addition, the client will be attending daily support meetings, such as:  SA, SAA, or SLAA.

Resentment reduction, shame reduction, arousal template work, and identification and exploration of links to past trauma are a few examples of the growth work you may undertake in this program.
